Pillar 1
Building and improving your preparedness program over time consist of five pillars. As the first of these pillars, our process starts with asking some important questions, like: What are your greatest risks? What do you have in place today? What are your concerns and requirements? Is your emergency response team ready? How is your command center set up? Emerald will conduct assessments to validate your current strengths, pinpoint opportunities for improvement, and identify threats and hazards relevant to your organization. In the next pillar of preparedness, Emerald will apply all that we've learned to formalize exactly how your organization will prepare, mitigate, respond, and recover in the context of future crises. The plans, policies, and procedures that we will design or update for you will address needed training and exercises, emergency alerts and notifications, activation and management of incident response and recovery, public information practices, and continuity of essential services and support during an emergency. Emerald will next provide the information necessary for your staff to profoundly understand their emergency roles and responsibilities. For example, your emergency plans with call for activation of a team to provide leadership and support during an incident. Each team member must understand their assigned function and related processes to help manage the incident effectively. This training and education can be delivered in a traditional, classroom-style environment; live, over a web-based platform of your choice; by your own team, as a turnkey package of instructional materials; or in a virtual learning environment, using your existing LMS.
